Key Features of Deskpool:

Deskpool manages virtual machines via desktop poolin which the system automatically creates and destroys virtual machines in accordance with desktop pool policies.

      1. Desktop Template Creation. Creating a desktop template is a process in which Deskpool imports a Windows virtual machine. During this process, administrators can install applications, update Windows and configure security policies.

      2. Desktop Pool Creation. A desktop pool is a group of virtual machine that share the same specifications and attributes. With the help of this, IT administrators can set the numbers of virtual machines to be created at maximum and pre-created.

      3. Automatic VM Creation. Virtual machines can be pre-created automatically by Deskpool in accordance with desktop pool policies.

User accounts are created by the Deskpool administrator. When users login to the account, the system will automatically generate and assign virtual machines:

      1. The administrator creates user accounts and associates them with one or multiple desktop pools.

      2. The system automatically assigns virtual machines when the users are logged in.

Deskpool not only supports a browser-based graphic interface, but also provides the wizard for system deployment. It requires no extra specialized knowledge and hence in most cases, can be done by the administrator in a DIY manner.

Deskpool supports both stateless and dedicated virtual desktops

1. Stateless virtual desktop: Stateless virtual desktops, also known as non-persistent virtual desktop, are temporary or short-term virtual desktops for users and can be recovered by the system according to the desktop pool policies when they are not used. New users will get a brand new virtual desktop when they apply for a stateless virtual desktop. Stateless virtual desktops are your best choice in places that see large visitor flow and hence require higher security, such as hotels, conference rooms, training institutes, libraries and various standard desktop terminals. Stateless virtual desktops are automatically created, recovered and disabled by Deskpool in accordance with the desktop pool configurations.

2. Dedicated virtual desktops: Dedicated virtual desktops, also known as persistent virtual desktop, are users’ personal virtual desktops that won’t be recovered by the system, i.e. the users’ personal thin clients will be permanently preserved. Such virtual desktops are ideal for various places that require fixed office desktops, which allow users to install applications by themselves, with their personal configurations and data permanently preserved, such as R&D desktops, office desktops and family desktops.

Deskpool supports seamless integration between AD domain and user management

For existing office desktop environments, which usually adopt domain management service, Deskpool allows seamless integration between AD domain and user management without affecting the management of existing IT desktop environments. Users need one AD domain verification only before logging in to Deskpool virtual desktop management system as well as the virtual desktop.

Deskpool supports user disk in version 2.2.x

Deskpool would mount a D driver (user disk) to the VM for the user when he/she log into the VM desktop. And the user disk would not be deleted when the VM destroied.

Deskpool & GPU Virtualization

When Deskpool deployed over Hyper-V 2012 R2 platform, it could deliver virtual desktops when there are GPU resources.

Deskpool supports linear scale out

Users may try and scale out now and then in their application of VDI. Deskpool’s linear scalability can effectively optimize user investment and be deployed according to needs to cut down initial investment. Deskpool clusters allow load balancing and desktop backup policies. In performing cluster deployment, Deskpool can balance the load inside a cluster to ensure maximum use of system resources. At the same time, Deskpool clusters also support scheduled backup of virtual desktops between cluster nodes to enhance the stability of the system.

Deskpool provides client plug-ins for browser

Deskpool users can access the virtual desktops via thin clients or the browser of Windows PC. Deskpool provides users with standard virtual desktop interface, in which users can maintain the system by themselves and operate virtual machines via VNC console when remote desktop protocol connection error occurs.
